The Goal:

Develop, implement and manage an effective online presence for Stein Gardens & Gifts.

The Challenge:

Stein, with a significant physical market presence throughout Wisconsin, had focused their marketing on the traditional in-store business and purposely decided to maintain a low profile on the Internet, instead focusing on placing weekly ads to drive traffic, as well as providing access to their Garden Club information via a basic informational website, www.steingg.com.

The Process:

As a first step, key managers worked with WSI to develop an e-commerce website focusing on selling artificial Christmas Trees. This website, www.classychristmastrees.com was developed and launched in the fall of 2008 and included the implementation of a Search Engine Marketing program designed to attract qualified buyers in this highly competitive market. Despite the late launch, the website generated moderate success in a short period and encouraged Stein’s to move toward a strategy that integrates online marketing with traditional marketing. Based upon the successful development and implementation, Stein’s redesigned the existing informational website and launched an e-commerce website in April 2009.

The Solution:

WSI consulted with Stein management to define their target market, review their existing marketing channels (Newspaper Ads, existing website, in-store flyers, etc.), and evaluate their website, as well as the websites of key competitors. Once this assessment was completed, WSI recommended a strategy and appropriate technological solutions. Implemented services;

  • WSI Search Engine Optimization Strategy and Campaigns

The Results:

The management team of Stein Gardens & Gifts continues to expand the functionality and product offerings of both websites. The websites have generated strong traffic, especially the www.classychristmastrees.com considering the start-up and competitive arena of Christmas online retail sales. Stein and WSI continue to partner with the expansion of the e-Business aspects of Stein Gardens & Gifts.
